Give yourself grace.

Your toddler ever-so-proudly drew on your living room wall. Your sister forgot your birthday. Your partner didn’t get what you asked for at the supermarket (again). What do you do? Most times (not always), you’ll be forgiving and understanding. That’s what it means to give someone “grace.”

Do you ever give yourself the same considerations? Giving yourself grace is a form of self-care that most of us don’t practice – but should.

Say no to negative self-talk.

Cut yourself some slack for not getting your steps in today. Be as kind to yourself as you would your best friend if you mess up at work. Pat yourself on the back for the things you managed to accomplish this week; don’t fixate on the things you didn’t.

You don’t expect perfection from others. Try not to expect it of yourself. Giving yourself grace can add joy to your life. And a life filled with joy means less stress and anxiety – and a healthier you.

Self-care is health care.
